Hi there! Thought it was about time I showed you my first ever pair of 'Ultimate Trousers' by SewOverIt. I keep wanting to call them pants - but of course SewOverIt is British - and over there pants are certainly not trousers! Haha.
I decided upon this nice light olive green cotton sateen for the first pair, as I thought the stretch would be quite forgiving and comfortable to wear. I have been trying to find a really good fitting pair of trousers for quite a while and I hoped the 'Ultimate Trousers' would be it!
They have not failed to win me over - the fit took a little bit of trial and error - and some tutorials were looked up to fix problems but overall I am really happy with how they have turned out, and I have already cut out another pair.
Photos below! (also - when I took these photos I had been wearing all day so they are a little wrinkly!! could also be that my fabric may not have been the best quality, whoops).
One of my biggest problems with this pattern was the crazy fake CT (aka Camel Toe) it kept giving me! Not actual CT but fabric kept gathering around the crotch and certainly looking interesting.. luckily I found a few tutorials online (specifically this one at fashion incubator) that helped me out. In the end I deepened/lowered the crotch and brought in the front seam quite considerably with more of an angle. See below for what I did.
Because the fabric is relatively thin and has a decent amount of stretch I am expecting these to become a bit loose - and might need a bit of adjusting over time. This is perhaps the 5th time I've worn them, and they are starting to loosen up a reasonable amount. I did make them quite fitting in preparation though!
Also because I want to wear them in summer I made them more of a capri 3/4 length - which I am quite happy with. I might also make little slits up each side on the next pair as a nice little detail. Talking of the next pair - I think I might have to figure out how to incorporate pockets - because I miss them in this pattern!!!
Also I had a little help from these two... ;) love the expression on that dogs face and her dedication to fetch! haha.
Thanks for visiting!! Hopefully have some more to share soon!
Edit: If you like these click through here to see my polka dot ultimates with a wider waist band.. things only get better the more times you make them! :)
