Hi there! Its been a bit of hectic week - hence no posts until today.. whoops! But this weekend I have been busily sewing up some T-shirts and tops for summer! Feels like summer is on its way with a howling warm No'r west wind outside today!
Today I made version C of the Kwik Sew 2403 - although I have made a couple of alterations - such as not having a cutout placket (although that would be really cute too - I might do that next time! maybe even using the SeeKateSew tutorial instead) and I also lengthened it by quite a bit too - which is lucky or it would have been super short on me! I also added some cute pockets to bring it all together.
I love really getting into a pattern and making heaps of different versions from it - its so much easier once you know what to do too! Below is my kitchen table (where I do most of my cutting and pinning) from last week in preparation for the weekend. I love using my collected vintage cups to hold the paper pattern in place instead of pins - makes it so much quicker!
The first one is a cute novelty pineapple organic cotton knit from Girl Charlee which I brought a while back but never got around to using, and a nice grey knit from the same place.
The second I've used the same grey organic cotton knit, and some left over melon coloured light weight merino knit from 'The Fabric Store'. I love the idea of wearing a lot of merino through summer, as it is suppose to keep you nice and cool even though it is wool! And it has the bonus of never getting smelly too.
Another idea might be to make this into a raglan t-shirt - would also look really cool with the different sleeve and body fabrics - I've done this with longer tops, but might have to make a couple of T versions too!
Anyway I hope you like! I've already worn the melon and grey one out for dinner this eve, and can see I will get a lot of wear out of both of these.. I may live in this skirt and T combo quite a bit this summer! More summer top posts coming soon! So excited to finally start sewing for summer ;)
